Children of Light

Ephesians 5:8-14

Today's message includes Paul's Call to the Converted and to the Unconverted.

Paul's call to the converted -- the Christ follower -- to Walk as Children of Light. Paul reminds us again that God has changed us.  He's changed our status, our nature, our identity. He urges us to live out this new identity.  He loves to use the word Walk to give us the picture of living out the reality of being Children of Light.

Paul gives us three exhortations to live radically different and have deep, genuine change. To live with the right motivations to live what is pleasing to God. He gives us the foundation for his commands and the motivation to do it.

1. Live out Your Identity
2. Discover What is Pleasing to the Lord
3. Expose the darkness

Paul's call to the unconverted. He pauses to address the unconverted that might be among the believing community. He issues a call to those dead in sin -- those far off from God -- those in darkness.  

AND WHAT DOES HE SAY?! - “Awake, O sleeper, And arise from the dead,
And Christ will shine in you.”

John the Baptist would say it differently: "Repent! For the Kingdom of God is at hand."

There's only one Savior in this world - and it is not ourselves. It is Jesus.  God calls you to stop playing church and to come to Him.
