Sanctification is the work of God by which he makes people Holy
Joel R. Beeke
Jesus didn't only die to forgive us and leave us in the state we were in -- He died to change us! To make us more like Himself. Now Paul says "You are to walk!" And you are to walk differently than you did when you were dead in sin. You are a different person now.
Justification and Sanctification are both the work of God, by the grace of God. And in that way they are similar, and they are both necessary But they are also vastly different in that the work of Justification is God Alone! In the work of Sanctification you are part of this. Now God involves you and this is what Paul is going to show us.
- Sanctification begins the moment you are regenerated
- Sanctification is an absolute necessity
- Sanctification is the Lord's will for your life.
