In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace

Ephesians 1:7

Outline:

  1. The Cure for Our Sins
  2. The Cure for Our Suspicions

If you found yourself in prison, unjustly there, what would you do in prison? How would you respond to such a situation? We know the Apostle Paul spent a lot of time in prison.

Imagine yourself being in that situation, limited, unable to be free.If this became true of us, how would we respond? Would we be tempted to distrust God?

Instead of being tempted to sin in this way, Paul was tempted to sing. Acts 16 tells us he and Silas were singing hymns and praying at midnight while in jail.

This sermon gives amazing encouragement as we find out how much we are loved by God - at the great cost of His Son. We are reminded of our Rescue from Sin and how to handle our distrust when Satan tempts us to doubt God's goodness towards us by reminding ourself through the Gospel that He DOES want the BEST for us.

The proof is in the Blood of Christ - in the redemption Christ has provided. Making a way for us to be forgiven - meaning that God is indeed trustworthy!

Friends, remind yourself of the Gospel, remind yourself of Ephesians 1:7.  It is in Him we have redemption according to the riches of His grace.

Jerry Bridges, in his book Trusting God, says it well:

"In adversity we tend to doubt God's fatherly care, but in propsperity we tend to forget it."

Look to the Son and remind yourself He has given His life on your behalf!
