How to Be a Pharisee
Speaker: Jason Whitley Series: The Gospel According to Mark Scripture: Mark 7:1–23
In Mark 7, Mark documents the longest conflict in his Gospel between Jesus and the Pharisees. What can we learn from the Pharisees in order to avoid being like them?
Four Ways We Can be Pharisees
- Constantly scrutinize others. (Mark 7:1-2)
- Impose your manmade standards on others. (Mark 7:3-7)
- Lay aside the Word of God at the expense of God’s Glory in other and others’ benefit. (Mark 7:8-13)
- Confront what is not sin in others. (Mark 7:5)
- See to purify yourself on the outside in vain. (Mark 7:14-23)
