The Prisoner
Speaker: Jason Whitley Series: The Gospel According to Mark Scripture: Mark 5:1–20
In the previous story of the disciples’ experience with Jesus in the storm (Mark 4:35-41), Mark notes a certain question that they posed: “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
Mark notes the gravity of this question, and he uses our text today to tell us more about who Jesus is. He demonstrates that Jesus is the Son of the Most of the Most High who not only calms storms, but overcomes demonic powers to rescue lost souls.
Three Applications for Our Lives and Our Redemption
- We are unable to rescue ourselves from satan’s grip. (Mark 5:1-5)
- We can only be rescued by the Son of the Most High. (Mark 5:6-13)
- We must live in light of the Lord’s mercy. (Mark 5:14-20)
