A Rabbi’s Radical Demands

As the new rabbi in town, Jesus attracted a lot of followers. He seemed loved by the people for the works He did - the eradication fo sickness and the miraculous provision of food. It was easy to get on board with this new rabbi.

But, Jesus came to relive men from their sins. He sought to save man from spiritual death, not to satisfy their physical needs. So, early in His ministry, Christ shows the cost of following Him.

Five Demands Jesus Makes

1. If you are to follow Jesus, you will have enemies. (Mark 1:14)
2. If you are to follow Jesus, you must repent and believe. (Mark 1:15)
3. If you are to follow Jesus, you must follow, He must lead. (Mark 1:16-18)
4. If you are to follow Jesus, you must be a disciple-making disciple. (Mark 1:17)
5. If you are to follow Jesus, you must be willing to give up what is most precious to you. (Mark 1:19,20)
