The passage serves as a model for praying for the spiritual needs of others. But, there is more. In the passage, the author prays that God will keep the audience for the work He has called them to do. God works in us through Christ, and ultimately He works through us for Christ’s sake. All that God does to equip us is for Jesus to get the glory forever and ever.
