The World Altering Effects of the Resurrection

Series: Easter Sermons

✨ 15 Effects of the Resurrection of Jesus

  1. The Final Resurrection Has Begun

    • Jesus' resurrection is the “firstfruits,” signaling the beginning of the great end-time resurrection foretold in Daniel 12 and 1 Corinthians 15.

  2. The New Creation Has Begun

    • Jesus inaugurated a new creation. Believers are already part of it spiritually, though the fullness awaits His return (2 Corinthians 5:17).

  3. Future Judgment is Certain

    • The resurrection proves God will judge the world through Jesus (Acts 17:30–31).

  4. Jesus is Declared the Son of God

    • Romans 1:4 declares that Jesus is the Son of God in power by His resurrection.

  5. The Cross Has Been Crowned

    • The resurrection proves the sufficiency and efficacy of the atonement Christ made on the cross (Romans 6:4).

  6. The Serpent (Satan) Has Been Defeated

    • Genesis 3:15 promised the seed of the woman would crush the serpent. The resurrection confirms Christ’s victory.

  7. Death is Finally Conquered

    • Jesus defeated death. He will never die again (Romans 6:9), and His people now have hope beyond the grave.

  8. David’s Eternal Throne is Guaranteed

    • The resurrection validates God’s covenant with David (2 Samuel 7) and assures that Christ will reign forever (Acts 2).

  9. New Birth and Living Hope are Made Possible

    • Because Jesus rose, we are born again to a living hope and promised an imperishable inheritance (1 Peter 1:3–4).

  10. We Receive Forgiveness and Justification

    • If Christ had not risen, we’d still be in our sins (1 Corinthians 15:17; Romans 4:25).

  11. We Walk in Newness of Life

    • Resurrection power enables Christians to live transformed lives, bearing spiritual fruit (Romans 6:4; Colossians 3:12–14).

  12. Our Future Resurrection is Secured

    • Jesus' voice will call the dead from their graves to life (John 5:24–29). His resurrection ensures ours.

  13. A New, Glorified Body Awaits Us

    • The future resurrection will be physical and glorious, like Christ’s resurrected body (1 Corinthians 15:22; Romans 8:23).

  14. A New Earth Awaits Us

    • The resurrection leads to the restoration of creation. We await a transformed Earth where Christ reigns (Romans 8; Revelation 21).

  15. All God’s Promises Are Guaranteed

    • If Christ rose, then every promise in Scripture is true and secure (Romans 8:28).
