Jesus Win

Speaker: Jason Whitley Series: The Gospel According to Mark Scripture: Mark 12:13–34

It is always challenging to play on an opponent’s turf, but in Mark 12, Jesus does just that. At this time, Jesus is in the temple over which the pharisees have ruled with corrupt practices. The popularity of the pharisees with the people suffers because of Jesus. With hearts only for the approval of the crowd, the pharisees test Jesus publicly with three different challenges in order to loosen His influence on the people. They do this to restore their dominance over the people.

The Three Public Challenges that the Pharisees Presented to Jesus

  1. The challenge of the government. (Mark 12:13-17)
  2. The challenge of resurrection. (Mark 12:18-27)
  3. The challenge of the Law. (Mark 12:28-34)
