In writing to the young pastor Titus, Paul gives clear instructions on the qualifications of elders, the duties of older and younger men and women in the church, and general rules on godly living for the church. Of special note today, we consider the instructions given to Titus on how to deal with divisive members in the church
Two Qualifications of Eldership
- The elder must be a godly man. (Titus 1:6-8)
- The elder must be able to teach sound doctrine. (Titus 1:9)
Three Warning to Titus Regarding Divisive People in the Church
- Avoid foolish conversations (with divisive people). (Titus 3:9)
- Warn divisive persons. (Titus 3:10)
- Remove divisive persons from the church. (Titus 3:10,11)
