Blessed be God

Speaker: Matt Becker Scripture: 1 Peter 1:3–9

Contrary to the errant gospel that focuses on earthly and human prosperity, God’s Word promise his followers suffering and persecution in this life. (2 Timothy 3:12) A trying earthly walk has been the staple of the Christian life as modeled by our Lord while on earth. The life of the early church was no different. In anticipation of persecution to come, Pete writes from Rome to encourage them. From Peter’s letter, we see what gives believers hope and strength in the face of endless trials and distresses.

Reasons for Encouragement during Our Trials

  1. The reason for our rejoicing. (1 Peter 1:3-5)
  2. The perspective within trials that causes rejoicing. (1 Peter 1:6-9)
