The freedom that the world thinks it has is only an illusion. Upon salvation, we see that we were slaves to sin; the very things we thought we enjoyed in our ‘freedom’ were the evidence of sin’s bondage over us. In God’s perfect timing, the sent Christ, perfectly fulfilling the Law, redeemed  us that we might receive adoption as sons. Paul makes this argument in two points:

1. Once slaves. (Galatians 4:1-3)
2. Now sons. (Galatians 4:4-7)
