What does Wisdom Bring to the Table? (Part 1)

August 12, 2018 Speaker: Jason Whitley Series: Ecclesiastes: Live for God

Passage: Ecclesiastes 8:1–8:5

Proverbs clearly states that wisdom is to be gotten above all things (Provers 4:7). But, Ecclesiastes shows us that wisdom doesn’t guarantee a smooth life. So, is it worth it to get wisdom?

Why take pains to grow in wisdom in life if it is just going to be difficult anyway? Why get wisdom at all?

This chapter shows us five advantages for the Glory of God and for us that wisdom brings. In these verses, the Lord provides practical wise guidance for us - even us, 21st Century Christians - in dealing with authority.

Two Advantages of Wisdom

  1. Wisdom brings personal transformation. (Ecclesiastes 8:1)
  2. Wisdom brings guidance under authority. (Ecclesiastes 8:2-5)
