Session 2 - Biblical Discipline

Apr 1, 2016    John Street

In this session, Dr. Street discusses the balance between discipline and grace in parenting. Proverbs 29:15 emphasizes the importance of both the rod and verbal instruction. Early in life, the use of the rod helps guide children, but as they grow, instruction plays a greater role in shaping their hearts.

Discipline is not only a means of correction but an opportunity to present the Gospel. Each discipline event reminds children of their need for Christ, as they realize they cannot achieve perfection on their own.

Dr. Street highlights Charles Spurgeon’s quote: "A child who knowingly sins can savingly believe." Children must come to understand the depth of their sin and their need for a Savior.
